Duncan Johns
Managing Director

Duncan has run Ion Science Ltd since the beginning of 1999 and has seen through significant change to turn the company into a professional manufacturer of innovative gas sensing products. He has wealth of experience in the gas detection industry and has spent the majority of his career in the international sales arena where he continues with many of the contacts he has kept for decades. Duncan started his career with Neotronics Ltd and stayed with them during their impressive growth until their eventually purchase by Zellweger Analytics. 


 Mark Stockdale
Technical Director

Mark studied for an Electrical and Electronic Engineering Degree at Cambridge before becoming a senior electronics designer at Analytical Instruments joining their explosive and gas detection instrumentation division. Mark then founded Ion Science Ltd in 1989 with the aim to create new gas detection technology for future industry needs. Mark has 25 years experience in the design of Intrinsically Safe instrumentation and works closely with BASEEFA.

Dr Frank Dean
Research Director

Dr Frank Dean took a chemistry degree at Oxford before obtaining a Ph.D. in electrochemistry at the Imperial College.  He joined Ion Science in 1996, after working on what was to become Ion’s Hydrosteel technology. ‘It is amazing how such diverse physicochemical phenomena are engaged in the detection of various chemicals’ , Frank says.  ‘Some people think that one sensing technology will one day sweep the market.  Others, that a good sensor can be made by miimicking nature.  Effective chemical sensing technology developed hitherto points in a different direction.’

Geoff Hewitt
CEO Ion Science Americas LLC

Geoff has spent his professional career in the analytical and environmental industry. He joined HNU Systems in the mid 70's and as VP of Sales and Marketing he was a key figure in their growth. Geoff established Ion Science Americas LLC for Ion Science in 2002 and has lead the American business from strength to strength.

Andrew Walling
European Sales Manager

Andrew joined Ion Science in August 2003 bringing a wealth of gas detection sales experience, both in distribution and direct sales. Andrew says “Currently I am involved in the formation and management support of our European distribution network, helping develop new markets and growing our current distribution channels."

Nick Tucker
Middle East Sales Manager

Nick joined Ion Science Ltd in summer 2005 with a strong background in the property sales market. Looking for a change of career Nick has successfully moved into instrument sales building on his strong people skills growing Ion Science Ltd's business in the important Middle Eastern market place.  

Graham Burns
South East Asia Sales Manager

Graham joined Ion Science in 2004 after completing his Business Degree in Cambridge. Graham originally joined the Marketing Department and soon progressed into Internal Sales after finding a talent for sales and customer support. In the summer of 2006 Graham made the move out to Singapore to offer dedicated support to our South East Asian distributors and assist them in growing Ion Science's business in this important area.

Neil O'Regan
Service Manager

Neil joined Ion Science in 2004 with a wealth of technical knowledge from his background in the fibre optics industry and his degree in Physics from Liverpool. Neil is currently working on opening Ion Science Approved Service Centres around the world. Service centres are being introduced to make servicing of Ion Science instruments as accessible as possible for our global customers.
